The Gundog
2010 Land Rover Defender 2.2 Utility
The Brief
Professional gundog trainer Jason Mayhew had a stunning Land Rover 110, but it was too generic for his specific needs. Not many people need to be able to carry around four or five sacks of dog food, but Jason is one of those people. With the dogs loose in the back, kit and suitcases crammed in where possible, and those sacks of food stacked on the back seat the situation was less than ideal. Jason came to us asking to adapt his beloved defender to better utilise the space, and make working away with the dogs for weeks on end less of a nightmare. Jason could only spare the vehicle for short stints, so the project had to be broken into three phases.
The Solution
The primary concern was safely transporting the dogs and making sure they were protected in the event of a crash, so we mounted a large custom dog crate onto storage drawers in the back. We then added storage pods to the sides of the vehicle, including a tank for the dog food. Phase one complete, on to phase two.
